Dr. Abdul-Malik Muhammad has been a grassroots organizer and activist for marginalized communities for nearly twenty-five years. He has focused on the development of Black boys to men, establishing a progressive pedagogy for oppressed youth and building progressive organizations. He has founded two organizations, Akoben LLC and Transforming Lives Inc., as vehicles to “transform lives, one community at a time.” 

You will meet Malik Muhammad (1:59). He opens with a dialogue about optimism and ancestors (7:39) and introduces the idea of connection and challenge (20:25). Malik discusses his lived experience and the importance of this work (26:50). He begins a conversation about restorative practice in school without white supremacy culture (41:47). He continues to talk about creating a caring culture (51:41) and his own personal experience (1:01:55). Finally, he talks about family (1:13:13) and gives his closing thoughts.
